Pertinent issues taken out of SB-0101:
General, Lisa Madigan, has done what we all thought she was and is supposed to be doing? Is this the reason we elected her to the office of the Attorney General? Doesn't people with disabilities and Senior Communities deserve to have her protection and help, TOO? We encourage you to inform those around you to this important issue and ask them to inform others. I am sure we are not the only ones sickened by her actions and Ms. Madigan should be held responsible! We have given Ms. Madigan the opportunity to explain her actions on two occasions and the NBC news network has also requested a response, but she has ignored us both. We offer you an opportunity to send a message to Ms. Madigan by sending her your comments by Clicking Here and asking for an explanation and then ask is this the type of advocacy she offers her constituents!? Take a look at her web- site, she blatantly talks about the advocacy she offers and then when a bill comes along that she doesn't like she has it taken apart. We urge you to look into these questions yourself and make up your own mind! |

| PURE HYPOCRISY ! |

| The Illinois Attorney General through their Legislative Liaison's office interfered with and had changed SB-0101 from its original form. The original bill created multiple changes designed to help and protect the people with disabilities and Seniors of our State. Mr. Jim Reed of the Illinois Attorney General's legislative liaison's office in Springfield, informed the, Illinois Advocate For The disABLED, that the bill would create more work and additional costs for the Attorney General's Office. Moreover, Mr. Reed relayed to us that "We are open to compromise, but are not willing to allow these sections that require our office to take on additional work or costs to remain in this legislation. We can talk about alternatives, but let me assure you, Mr. Santiago of the Illinois Advocate For The disABLED, this bill is not going anywhere. The Attorney General's Office can help you look for legislation that we like and that you and the people that you represent can support. Rep. Watson is creating something that you might want to support, but that is the way things are done around here", Mr. Reed went on to say. It takes some nerve to obstruct legislation that should have been instituted by the Illinois Attorney General's office to protect her Constituents. We believe that this is not a good enough reason to interfere with legislation designed to protect society's most vulnerable citizens. Not to mention, their Families that take on some, most, or at times, all of the costs of these devices and their repair. I don't think this is the reason we as voters, elected Lisa Madigan as Attorney General of Illinois. Having Ms. Madigan's staff whine and complain about having additional work added to their duties is insulting. Perhaps, these people should find work in a different field and let the rest of the Attorney General's office perform their obligations without them! Most citizens of Illinois are accustomed to taking on more work for the same pay and sometimes for less pay. We do this to support our Families, to pay our bills and to keep our jobs. What makes the Attorney General's Office any different than the constituents she vowed to protect? This bill was initiated by our group because a wheelchair supplier, Mobility Systems & Solutions of Hickory Hills, stole a young girls wheelchair. This company is still in business and the Attorney General has done absolutely nothing to this company! In fact, it took two State Representatives to have this case reopened after the Attorney General's office had this case closed because the company failed to comply with the Attorney General's suggestion to return the wheelchair to the young girl. Now, two years later the case is still pending in the Attorney General's office with NO END in sight! Where is the advocacy that Ms. Madigan talks about in the news media to score points with the general public and why doesn't she talk about the things she can't, won't and refuses to do to help ordinary people. Visit her web-site to see some examples of her boasting and then ask yourself why she and her office isn't doing something about a company like this? If she is going to proclaim to be the people's advocate maybe she should actually demonstrate her capabilities instead of talking about them. We at the Illinois Advocate For The disaBLED see something wrong and have the chance to inform others, we must do what we see as our duty. I can tell you that had Ms. Madigan simply replied to our requests for an explanation and informed us as to her plan about this company, well we would have put our trust into her. But, she has ignored us and the news media long enough. We ask you to make up your own mind regarding this matter and then to talk about it with your friends and family and have them do the same. Let's remind Ms. Madigan that in our great Republic we still elect our officials! ! ! There is a link below to send her your comments. |
